Banana Power Smoothie for Kids

Banana Power Smoothie for Kids

Servings: 2
Prep Time: 10 minutes

A nourishing smoothie traditionally believed to support healthy growth and strong bones—so children “grow like bamboo shoots.”

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 4 oz fresh fruit juice (orange, apple, or pear work well)
  • 4 oz liquid whey
  • 5 drops raw almond oil
  • 5 drops raw sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cooked honey (optional*)

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the banana.
  2. Gently scrape the soft white strings from the inside of the peel (these are added for extra nutrients).
  3. Add banana, scraped strings, fruit juice, whey, almond oil, sesame oil, and honey (if using) into a blender.
  4. Blend on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
  5. Serve immediately.

Why These Ingredients?

  • Banana – Provides potassium and natural carbohydrates for energy.
  • Whey – Contains protein and minerals that support growth and bone development.
  • Sesame oil – Traditionally valued for calcium support.
  • Almond oil – Provides healthy fats important for development.

Important Notes for Parents

  • *Avoid honey for children under 1 year old due to the risk of infant botulism.
  • Ensure there are no nut or sesame allergies before using the oils.
  • If fresh whey is unavailable, plain yogurt (thinned slightly with water) can be substituted.
  • For a colder smoothie, add a few ice cubes before blending.
